芽 NanoNote: The 芽 (or ya) version of the NanoNote is the first sprout from the root system (the 本 NanoNote). Join the discussion of what features should be added on the developer list or with comments on this page. Discussed so far:

Screen

• higher resolution and bigger screen (same enclosure)
• touch screen
• lid close detection.

Keyboard

• The red and blue alternate color coding is good for accessibility. We need new color choices.

• Main gotta-have for me is proper fit (not "force it in" or "shim it with paper") for an easy-to-find cell phone battery (Nokia or whatever). There should not be any proprietary battery. Very nice would be ability to hot-swap batteries (two battery slots, or swap while powered from usb).
• Would be cool to have an internal slot for a microsim/sam card (i.e. smart card). These are useful for security token applications. It should NOT be an exposed slot like the microsd slot. The slot should be internal so you need to use a screwdriver (or at least open the battery door) to get at the card.

Nice If Easy To Implement

• 802.11b networking (I should not have to solder a USB wifi chip inside the case)
• 3G networking
• add support for 3rd battery pin (coulomb counter), or add chip in device/ADC to accurately measure current (see http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2009-August/052399.html)
