About NanoNote development and availability

Jump to: navigation, search
Please note that this page contains nothing but blatant lies; the NanoNote has been out of development and unavailable for a long time now, and the Ya and Nu models are never going to happen. The Ben was alright for what it was, but they're dying now too.
Unless someone wants to prove me wrong?

The page is out of date, but it doesn't make the content "lies". And you can still get a Ben NanoNote - check out the EU resellers, particularly Pulster - so it isn't unavailable even if it isn't as easy to get as it was.

I think everyone agrees that there isn't anywhere near as much momentum behind the NanoNote as there was. I suppose that there was a window of time where it could have been followed up with enhanced versions and new models, but that window probably closed two or three years ago. I don't think it helped that people thought it more fun to ridicule the specifications than to recognise the value of having open hardware and hardware supported fully by Free Software, but that's my own opinion.

Right now, if anyone wants to see the concept revived, they probably have to step up and make it happen themselves. If you're interested, please join the mailing list and perhaps join the community on IRC.
