Action: kristianpaul reading about o11s00:38
kristianpaulah.. nothing new to the hw side :(00:41
wpwrako11s ?00:42
kristianpaulwpwrak: o11s.org00:42
kristianpaulsome body asked me about iot today and i have no word to answer :)00:42
wpwrakah, mesh. probably boring :)00:44
kristianpaulyeah :)00:45
kristianpaulwell, make alternatives networks to the internet/gms is a way to go, but.. based on what we already know about wifi well..00:49
kristianpaulbut i could be wrong00:49
kristianpaulwpwrak: http://cozybit.com/our-projects/embedded-networking/mobile-ipv6/ dont sound you familiar what they said?02:49
wpwrakkristianpaul: yeah, vaguely familiar :) probably still centered around that mesh, though. so of questionable value. i don't quite buy the "flat mesh" meme. i can see the use of a two-layer mesh, with one layer the access and the other the interconnect between local area nodes, but that's usually not what people have in mind.03:25
wpwrakwell, the "flat" mesh could also make sense in cases where have plenty of power. the usual example is a group of tanks traveling in the desert. as your nodes get smaller, power becomes more and more an issue. i don't quite buy the "mesh your mobile phone" idea. not before batteries increase their energy density by maybe a factor for 10.03:28
wpwrakanother niche there a flat mesh makes sense are very low-traffic networks. but again, that's not what the average user is interested in.03:30
wpwrakso meshes are often solutions intended for military or industrial uses hyped for consumer devices03:30
wpwraknow what could possibly be wrong with that picture :)03:31
kristianpaul(traffic) yes the problem of the commons i guess03:34
wpwrakheh, in a way yes :)03:34

tuxbrainmmm interesting tutorial :) about implement arduino on FPGA http://pepevi.blogspot.com/2011/09/tutorial-emulacionsimulacion-de-arduino_16.html06:39
tuxbrainin spanish06:39
wpwrakaha, they also discovered the potential of FPGAs. nice :) next challenge: do a real cpu ;-)06:41
viricthere is an rtl for arduino?08:39
tuxbrainviric yes http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=36_68&product_id=51108:42

tuxbrainhombre eso se avisa :), has hecho fotos?08:45
virichm no :D08:45
whitequarkafaik, there is an avr vhdl ip core (it has been around for quite a long time), and that emulator is based on it08:53
wpwraktuxbrain: how's the spi going ?09:00
tuxbrainI'm seting up the atduino in slave mode based on this tutorial http://www.rocketnumbernine.com/2009/07/03/using-spi-on-an-avr-3/ , then I will retouch to be able to work with your code , compile your code and cross finguers that something happens09:02
wpwrakgood :) in the worst case, at least a cursing tuxbrain will happen :)09:02
qi-botThe build was successfull, see images here: http://fidelio.qi-hardware.com/~xiangfu/compile-log/openwrt-xburst.full_system-09212011-0501/09:06
xiangfu__the linux 3.0 image ^09:06
tuxbrainheheeheh, without programing the arduino at all, using spiio on ben , is emiting (pin13 led reacts as do when using avrdude) and it read garbage, so somthing is happens :P now let make that that something is the somthing I want :P09:18
wpwrak(something happens) great ! ;)09:20
tuxbrainpin 13 (the led) is the SCK pin in arduino also , so I think is good news :)09:23
tuxbrainfor the logs and courious the Arduino SPI library I will use is that one http://code.google.com/p/rocketnumbernine/downloads/list09:24
wpwrakseems straightforward enough09:28
tuxbrainI hope09:31
wpwrakthe evil day star is rising. time for a nap ...09:33
tuxbraindream with MOSI MISO SOMI MOIS SOMI etc09:34

kristianpaultuxbrain: learning HDL, very nice !!14:55
kristianpaulviric: new ubb!! nice :)15:00

zoltanh7211Hi guys15:21
zoltanh7211I'm preparing to hold a talk about Nanonote and Milkymist at Szeged Hungary Software Freedom Day15:22
zoltanh7211and I would like to have some background story of both devel platform15:23
zoltanh7211if possible15:23
kristianpaulhad you read both nanonote and milkymist wikipedia articles already?15:23
zoltanh7211kristianpaul: yes15:23
kristianpaulI think they have some basic background, but if still not fill your needs feel free to ask15:24
DocScrutinizerola`, what's new? :-)15:24
zoltanh7211I think it's enough to know what was the new basic idea - or the origin15:25
zoltanh7211and the year if possible15:25
kristianpaulwell i think make, use sell copyleft hardware15:25
Last message repeated 1 time(s).15:26

wpwrakthis is a very rough timeline a draw up about a year ago: http://downloads.qi-hardware.com/people/werner/tmp/timeline.pdf15:30
zoltanh7211oh thanks15:31
wpwrakah, and here's a more accurate list of dates, especially M1:15:31
wpwrakit's interesting to note that most of the predictions didn't come true :)15:33
zoltanh7211btw about the milkymist - why VJ machine had been the target? Why this was the base idea15:34
wpwrake.g, Xue got unceremoniously buried, we still don't have a ya and even less a ya-mm, etc.15:35
wpwrak(m1) probably because sebastien thought it would be a cool idea :)15:35
zoltanh7211I will add this to the slide :)15:35

wpwrakah yes, he mentioned the joy of carrying PCs around :)15:39
wpwrakmobile computing, the hard way :)15:39
zoltanh7211I want also turn nanonote into an portable tabletpc that could be an "smartphone" and desn't need too much modifications15:41
