wolfspraulkristianpaul: maybe here is better?01:03
wolfspraulhow are you btw? haven't chat in a while! :-) I saw some gps wiki updates... any fix yet? :-)01:03
kristianpaulyeah sorry01:05
kristianpaulhttp://gibson.softwarelivre.org/static/2011/low/sala41a/sala41a-low-201106301601.ogg Werner talk at fisl about making copyleft hardware01:06
wolfsprauldownloading :-)01:06
kristianpaulwolfspraul: dont expect a fix yet01:06
wolfspraulwhat's the license of the video?01:06
kristianpaulbut also thing is BAD01:06
kristianpauli exlplain01:06
kristianpauli'm working on getting telemtry, onces this came stable and with no problem, any gps/gnss/lib can work with the navigation data and get a fix point01:07
kristianpaullicense...01:07
kristianpaulask Werner ;-)01:07
kristianpaulhe is the speaker anyway i guess01:07
wolfspraulyeah I just hope the guy holding the camera doesn't think his part is the most important...01:08
wolfspraulwhy low btw? Is this the matching high-res link? http://gibson.softwarelivre.org/static/2011/high/sala41a/sala41a-high-201106301600.ogv01:09
kristianpaulyes, i'm editing wiki as i'll ge crazy if dont document steps i'm following01:09
kristianpaullow? well, my home dsl link is not the faster of the town :)01:09
wolfspraulif the license is acceptable I'll upload the high-res version into the Qi wiki for archival01:09
wolfspraulkristianpaul: ok keep talking about gps, sorry. I am downloading the low-res first and will check the license.01:10
wolfspraulso it's moving forward slowly?01:10
kristianpaulyes as always :)01:11
wolfspraulwhat is bad?01:11
wolfspraulyes01:11
wolfspraul:-)01:11
wolfspraulbit by bit01:11
wolfspraul:-)01:11
wolfspraulbut that's good, it allows for some thinking in between, and good documentation01:11
kristianpaulis not bad, i just noticed i can improve speed if if ducment all better01:11
kristianpauleven what is not clear to me yet01:12
wolfspraulgreat01:12
kristianpauli hate every weeked have to recall what was that i was having problems with and so on, so you can imagin my mess :)01:12
kristianpaulbut namuru hdl, should be generally ok, now, what lacks and i'm working on is the acquisition algoryth that will allow later to track satelites01:13
kristianpaulonce that work and is stable, i can celebrate a little here :)01:14
kristianpaulArtyom is moving forward too, so now i have more excuses to speedup ;)01:14
wolfspraulgood01:15
wolfspraulthe documentation part is great01:15
wolfspraulinteresting thought that the weekend rhythm forces you to document well :-)01:15
wolfspraulkinda makes sense, I will think more about this idea...01:16
kristianpauli work that way, or with task for a day within week. if cant resolve the problem in one day (actually when i traveling back to home in the bus), then i make some notes for weekedn01:19
kristianpaulbut afaik some notes get lost.. i need to find better way to sync01:19
kristianpaulwolfspraul: https://twitter.com/#!/fisl_oficial check 12 sep updates, thats were link came from01:20
wolfspraulI downloaded the low-res video, no license info at all01:26
wolfspraulI will just assume the cc-by-sa from the presentation01:26
wolfsprauland I will download high-res, the quality is pretty bad in low01:26
wpwrak(video license dunno) they made everyone sign a release form but i don't even know what exactly it says :) from my side, all is under cc-by-sa01:29
kristianpaulhigh-res link dint look like, even when the labels match quite01:34
wpwrak(video finally released) that was quick :)01:34
wolfspraulkristianpaul: didn't look like?01:34
wolfspraulyou mean the high-res video contains another talk?01:34
kristianpaulyes01:34
kristianpaulandroid01:34
kristianpaulvlc told me01:34
wolfspraulwhere is Werner's high-res talk then?01:35
kristianpauli wish i know too :)01:35
rohkristianpaul: ack. checked the file01:35
kristianpaulbtw may be the ogg file have more medatada like license, but vlc dint make that obvious01:36
wolfspraulfirst I try to find Werner in high-res01:36
kristianpauli bet is this http://gibson.softwarelivre.org/static/2011/high/sala41a/sala41a-high-201106301503.ogv01:36
kristianpaulis too big for been just one talk.01:36
kristianpaulah, no..01:36
wolfspraulI was just looking at that too01:37
wolfspraul720 MB01:37
wolfspraulWerner's talk in there?01:37
wolfspraulit's amazing how bad all this is btw01:38
wolfspraul2 months delay01:38
wolfspraullousy quality01:38
kristianpauli warned :)01:38
wolfspraulhorrible browsing/metadata01:38
kristianpaulccc should learn from then :p01:39
wolfspraulwell, I think it's like this for a lot of events01:39
kristianpaulbut not that bad01:39
kristianpauleven debian debconf have better releases dates01:39
wolfspraulthere are just too few people passionate about video, documentaries, the realities of real-time and high-res streaming, etc. etc.01:39
wolfspraulso anyway, can we still find Werner in a little higher-res than the low-res link you found?01:40
wolfspraulthat 720 MB file is wrong? (I am downloading right now)01:40
kristianpaulnot donwload !!01:40
kristianpauljust launch vlc url.. and check tittle and duration01:40
wolfspraulwho knows, I don't trust this01:41
wolfspraulmedia files are garbled, metadata is wrong, my vlc is also quite buggy and crashing etc :-)01:41
kristianpaulwell if you have a T1 there, no problem :)01:41
wolfspraulI will download and check it with a couple of viewers01:42
kristianpauloh well .. :)01:42
wolfspraulmaybe the gems are in there somewhere01:42
wolfspraul720 mb is suspiciously large01:42
wolfspraulmaybe the files ending in 00 are junk?01:42
wolfspraulyour initial link pointed to a few seconds garbled firefox snippet01:42
wolfspraulhow to support 400 million users, ha ha01:43
wolfspraulwe should rephrase. how to never have to support 1 billion users. :-)01:43
wolfspraulafter some resistance, I finally switched to chromium now. 400 million - 101:44
kristianpaulfinally http://gibson.softwarelivre.org/static/2011/high/sala41a/sala41a-high-201106301300.ogv01:44
wolfspraul1300 ?01:44
wolfspraulthat's the same as 1601 in low-res ?01:45
wolfsprauldownloading...01:46
kristianpaulvlc showed the tittle, and if i forward a bit i can see finally slides with links and listen questions so yes it is01:46
kristianpauldont ask why, i jsut went trial error,01:46
rohhm... meh.. yes..01:46
wolfspraulwell excellent!01:46
wolfspraulthanks so much!01:47
wolfspraulwe will pull out out of this pile of data anyway01:47
rohseems the same file. and i thought our congress (ccc) videos are shitty named ;)01:47
wolfspraulit's a difficult problem, but amazing that in most cases it's so bad01:47
rohlow is 400x300 video + audio in 22khz at 60kbit01:48
rohhigh is 640x480 video + 22khz audio at 67kbit01:48
wolfspraulgreat milkymist one is in fact high-res01:49
kristianpaulsmall pc :-)01:49
wolfspraulback when I had EGA 640x480 was indeed unreachable01:49
wpwrakall this stuff it probably not done by the free software geeks of fisl but by the company that organized the conference. they still live in blissful ignorance in their closed world :)01:49
rohgive that low is 101 and high 108mbyte,.. forget low01:50
wpwrakheh, makes me remember how i hated those slow color graphics cards. had an ET4000. hated it. then finally the 2D-accelerated S3 801 came along and i was happy :)01:51
wolfspraulsorry I meant my 320x200 CGA01:51
rohwpwrak: its theora video and ogg audio.. i am sure some nerd encoded it01:51
wpwrakCGA. oh dear :)01:51
wolfspraulroh: low is really bad01:51
wolfspraulin addition to a bad recording angle01:51
wolfspraulat least they used a tripod :-)01:51
wpwrakroh: hmm, maybe01:51
wolfspraulI haven't even listened to audio yet, sitting at a noisy starbucks. but my expectations will surely be exceeded :-)01:52
rohits understandable and doesnt have a 40db snr humm on it.. so you'll be fine01:53
kristianpaulaudio is not bad01:58
kristianpaulwhat exlplain size, i guess is because all the talk is the slides and no moving werner on stage02:00
wpwraki should use "actually" and "for instance" a bit less :)02:15
kristianpaul!top words02:15
kristianpaul!top ten words02:15
kristianpaulbah, few questions ..02:16
wpwrakyeah, and as far as i remember, i didn't answer them well. at the end, i was also running out of time. the talk just fit the time slot :)02:17
kristianpaulyour voice noticed quite agitated indeed02:20
wpwraki think that's how i usually talk :)02:21
kristianpauloh, i tought was because want to fit time slot :)02:22
kristianpaulanyway, nice talk !!02:23
kristianpaulnow you see it again, you think you missed something in the slides?02:23
kristianpaullooks very complete for me02:23
wpwrakthanks :) naw, nothing major missing. maybe the end could use a bit of restructuring02:26
wpwrakah .. now i remember ... just before the talk, jon kindly treated me to a cup of coffee. and i was too polite to refuse. that had me in high gear :)02:27
kristianpaulxiangfu: Hello 02:31
xiangfuhi02:31
kristianpaulDo you know why qvido is not included anymore in owrt releases?02:32
kristianpauland i dint knew it was a vido too 02:32
kristianpaulhere say http://www.openzim.org/ZIM_Readers 02:32
wolfspraulno reason probably just broken & not compiling02:34
wolfspraulyes very nice video actually02:34
wolfspraulkristianpaul: thanks so much for noticing and helping find the right one :-)02:35
wolfspraulI will upload into the qi wiki, mention in the news etc.02:35
wolfspraulso it's all properly archived and can be referred to later02:35
kristianpaulhe, no problem, i just remenber to check and then  was there !! :-)02:35
wolfspraulyes great02:35
wolfspraulvery very good02:35
wolfspraulthose things are super important to build a strong foundation02:35
wolfspraulsince that whole copyleft hardware thing is still not self explanatory, and probably won't be for a while02:36
wolfspraulI think that will only change once we have a kickass product and people will ask "how is this possible?" "where is this coming from?" etc02:37
kristianpaulnice, i tought i was the only who spelled qi word by word instead of as syllable (wich is kinda odd ;))02:48
wpwraki wouldn't know hw to properly pronounce "qi" ;-)02:49
kristianpaullol02:50
wpwraklike english "key" ? or maybe like french "qui" ? etc. :)02:50
kristianpaulis like "shee"02:50
wpwrakoh. so i would have gotten it totally wrong :)02:50
kristianpaulbut nah, this is not a home energetic project 02:51
kristianpaulwell thats was last time i got told was that way, was carlos camargo i think who pointed me that02:51

DocScrutinizer(Qi) ask Wolfgang. He should know how the chinese word shall be pronounced08:23
Action: DocScrutinizer always considered it a strange "coincidence" that the bootloader is called the same like this enterprise08:24
DocScrutinizerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi  >>In traditional Chinese culture, qì (also chi or ch'i) is an active principle forming part of any living thing...<<08:26

DocScrutinizergerman wikipedia always a bit more err "german" ;-D08:40
DocScrutinizerwpwrak: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi08:42
DocScrutinizerso thinking about it, I wonder if Qi-hardware refers to neiqi or waiqi, or even yuanqi08:45
DocScrutinizera very natural name for an OS running on qi-hw (ben) was Qigong :-)08:48
DocScrutinizerben's sysinternals suite: Aiki08:51

larscjust a warning14:49
mthlarsc: I got that warning before today's changes as well, probably switching to GCC 4.6 triggers it14:49
mthyes, but I like to keep the number of warnings as low as possible, so potentially serious things stand out14:50
mththe cleanest solution would be to update the prototype of mfd_add_devices, I guess14:51
larscwon't work. it was const before, but due to some ugly changes in the mfd core it can't be currently14:52
mthbut is it safe then to pass a const to it?14:53
larscyes and no ;)14:53
mthwe could cast away the const until the mtd core is fixed14:54
mthor do you think that will be so soon it is not worth it?14:54
larscI hope that it will be fixed, not sure if it is going to be soon though14:57
kristianpaulmalicious circuit, rms at least is finding new words :)15:42
larsckristianpaul: where?16:00

erikkugelhi guys, If wanted to make a USB to Ethernet (Cat5+RJ45) cable myself, to connect the Nanonote to an Ethernet port on a PC, which pins on the Ethernet Jack should I connect to the pins on the USB tip? Or, which cat5 wires should I connect to the 4 cables in a usb wire? I found some instructions online but there was no explanation. Should I just Connect D+ to D+ and D- to D- and leave power and grounding on the USB un-wired?23:54
wpwrakerikkugel: this doesn't seem to make sense at all. as far as i know, there's no compatibility at the physical layer between ethernet and usb. do you have a link to those instructions you found ?23:56
