qi-bot[commit] Werner Almesberger: ptrude/: path extrusion, work in progress (master) http://qi-hw.com/p/cae-tools/d4c96f101:34
ignatius_Could someone possibly point me where to get the newest kernel source that has support for the ks7010 driver? Also, and for some reason, I am unable to compile the "qi-" kernels, and have them actually boot without a VFS error.05:33
ignatius_It seems the only tree that I could find that works, is the "JLime" flavor of kernel sources..05:34
wolfspraulmarcan: there's silhouettes for you :-)06:09
wolfspraulignatius_: too bad I don't know, we need to wait until xiangfu or someone else knowledgeable is back06:48
ignatius_Ok. Thanks.06:51
kyakignatius_: your problem is probably related to rootfs size07:28
kyakit is 512 Mb now07:28
kyakyou probably still have 25607:29
kyakthe ks7010 driver is available in the latest trunk image, though i can't confirm that it works (it builds and loads fine)07:30
ignatius_Well, i'm using the Debian "Lenny" UBI image. And compiled my own kernel (2.6.34?) on top of that. Some how, some time had passed, and I went to try to recompile the kernel, and that went fine. However, I did find a few (2-3) differend pre-compiled kernels that did boot, instead of dying at MTD rootdrive detection.07:37
ignatius_And also, I found some source (JLime) that when compiled provides a bootable kernel. 07:38
ignatius_I don't understand what the difference is in the various kernels. The ones that boot and the ones that don't. Is it some sort of kernel patch i'm missing?07:39
ignatius_Eh. I meant to say that going back to recompile the kernel, that once was bootable, after recompiliation yielded a kernel that wouldn't boot.07:45
ignatius_So, basically, I just want a nice kernel with ks7010 support. On top of the Debian "Lenny" filesystem.07:49
xiangfuignatius_, is there are some kernel log?07:53
xiangfuignatius_, ks7010 you have to plug-in it before powerup. 07:53
xiangfuhotplug not working.07:53
ignatius_Hold on.. need to reinstall the kernel that does boot.07:55
xiangfuignatius_, you using the new latest u-boot. there is POWER+F4 can load a kernel inside your ubi rootfs.07:58
xiangfuthen you don't needs to reflash your kernel partition. :)07:58
ignatius_Damnit. My system isn't set up to log previous sessions. (No /var/log/messages)08:01
ignatius_Oh? Where can I download it from? :)08:01
xiangfuignatius_, http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/OpenWrt_Software_Image#Image_2011-05-2808:04
xiangfuF4 will load kernel inside the ubi rootfs of nand.(we need put kernel at /boot/uImage)08:04
xiangfuthis feature implement at Image 2011-02-2308:04
ignatius_Ok. Thank you. I appreciate it.08:08
wolfspraulI think I will uptick mediawiki on the qi server09:52
wolfspraulhad too many problems with thumbnails for videos lately, and there is hope for bugfixes09:52
wolfspraulalright, update time. let's hope this doesn't end in a bricked wiki :-)10:37
akiwiguyHave you done some backups? 10:37
wolfspraulhomepage comes up, not bad :-)10:47
wolfspraulakiwiguy: nah, come on :-)10:47
wolfspraulyes and no10:48
wolfspraulnothing is perfect10:48
wolfspraulyes there is an rsync mirror, but a live mysql db cannot be mirrored like that10:48
wolfsprauland yes I run a manual mysqldump around such an upgrade, but if it would fail fatally any real restore from a backup would be painful still10:48
wolfspraulthe reality is, once I update, I need to solve all problems in a forward way10:48
wolfspraulif there's a bug, track it down and fix it10:48
wolfspraulsome of my patches still didn't make it upstream, too bad10:49
wolfspraulhave to poke again10:49
wolfspraulon some new servers I'm using neat lvm snapshots10:49
wolfspraulthat works quite well10:49
wolfspraulso I actually have the full process of restoring from a snapshot documented in advance10:49
wolfspraulbut not that that machine yet, it's a bit older10:49
akiwiguyWhat purpose does fidelio serve, btw? Is it the buildhost?10:50
wolfspraulthe setup is documented here http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/Server_setup10:50
akiwiguyHeh, I had never seen that wiki page before :P 11:01
akiwiguyI really can't believe that's all documented11:01
wolfspraulakiwiguy: oh yes, definitely documented. I need to keep things maintainable.11:12
wolfspraulwiki update seems to have been very smooth, what a great work the MediaWiki folks are doing11:12
akiwiguyI've had to update a MediaWiki powered wiki once11:13
akiwiguyIt completely died.11:13
wolfspraulhmm, oh well, some pages don't display11:20
wolfspraullet's see...11:20
akiwiguySome "community news" pages are not displaying for me11:22
wolfspraulyep. be patient.11:25
akiwiguyAnd it works again11:26
wolfspraulyes. 1-line bug in the OggHandler extension. was lucky to find it fast.11:28
wolfspraulakiwiguy: I'm sure there will be more bugs, please let me know if you see anything.11:30
akiwiguyWell, time to get some sleep. 11:38
akiwiguyGood night.11:38

qi-bot[commit] Werner Almesberger: ptrude/: added (overly, this far) simple extruder (master) http://qi-hw.com/p/cae-tools/c202eda17:33
wpwrakwolfspraul: btw, considering the assumption that, if you were to advertize a Ben as, say, an MP3 or H.264 player, you'd get into legal trouble, even if you didn't provide (or ship with) the software yourself, where does it originate ?23:44
wpwrakwolfspraul: i.e., if this something you heard was mentioned in a case that went to court ? or did you get it from some of openmoko's legal inquiries ? or did you just figure it out on your own from first principles ?23:45
wpwraktuxbrain: regarding making pcbs. cutting the board to shape and making the holes is a lot of work and it really helps if you can let the machine do it23:45
tuxbrainwpwrak: 500 Openmoko cargo hijacked by Sisvel to pulster23:45
tuxbrainwpwrak: (etching) no balcony in the new destination 23:46
wpwraktuxbrain: for the toner transfer, you can achieve very high precision. the main problem with the etching are the fumes. not for health concerns (well, as long as you don't massively exaggerate things), but for chloride attacking metals.23:46
wpwraktuxbrain: hmm, a terrace or a garden maybe ? or a patio ?23:47
tuxbrainnop a second floor without elevator, good windows but no real exterior exit23:47
wpwrak(pulster) but those gta02 has mp3 software installed. that was a much more direct violation.23:47
wpwrak(windows) okay, maybe get a fan then ;-)23:48
wpwrakcan you hang a plastic box outside the window without anyone complaining ?23:48
tuxbrainVIctor is the PCB man and he HATES to etch, 23:48
kristianpauli could  make a loop that write slew until find a interestint threshold.. but i need to understand intterupts.. at least by polling at first23:49
tuxbrainhahaahah  I don't think this is even posible , to much traffic below the window23:49
kristianpaulmay be not the classical etching way?23:49
kristianpaulsomething more controled and industrial-like way?23:49
wpwraktuxbrain: what acid has he used so far ? maybe it's just the wrong chemistry. i also used to hate it before i found HCl+H2O2. not i'm pretty cool with it :)23:49
kristianpauli think he use the clasic one.. :) (that EVERYONE hates)23:50
wpwrakkristianpaul: (industrial etching) i think the FeCl stuff is used in industry. i've heard that HCl+H2O2 is too, though.23:50
kristianpauland yes, second think i hate is making holes and cutting the boards, so a PCB become very handy :-)23:51
tuxbrainI CNC I guess :P23:52
kristianpaulbest wishes with the engraving :-)23:53
wpwrakkristianpaul: yeah, when i need to make a board, i prepare the files, then walk down to my workshop, select the position, load the drill bit, do "make drill", go back and chat for a few minutes, then go down, remove the drill and insert the endmill, then "make mill", and a few minutes later, i can pry out the board :)23:57
wpwrakkristianpaul: if i wan to make a dozen, then i instruct my script accordingly :)23:57
kristianpaulalso fyi tuxbrain before cnc and mechincal stuff, chemical was used for all kind of process like etching and even additing 23:58
wpwrakwhat helps a lot with toner transfer is a plastifier. that way, you get consistent quality.23:59
