#qi-hardware IRC log for Saturday, 2011-01-29

wpwrak(power supply, safety) i think for a device meant for stage use, it can't hurt to be a bit more paranoid than usual. it could face very adverse conditions. wrong voltage and reversed polarity being some of them. if the show starts in 30 minutes and your power supply doesn't work, will you really patiently pack your things, order a new one from wolfgang, and try again next week ? or will you thankfully accept whatever "this should work"03:47
wpwrak they bring you at the site ?03:47
wpwrakof course, if the MM1 goes up in (non-propagating) flames, that may be more sales :)03:47
wpwrakif it goes up in propagating flames, well, that's a bit of a PR problem. and you may add some more countries to your personal "no go" list ...03:48

LunaVoraxHey everyone !08:29
LunaVoraxI'm having some troubles with my Ben Nanonote08:30
LunaVoraxThe Nanonote doesn't want to mount the microsd card and I'm unable to mount the internal flash storage of the Nanonote via ssh :/08:30
LunaVoraxWould be easier to fix the MicroSD card than the ssh one, since it's faster to put files on the microSD than doing all the mess to connect the Nanonote and the PC together08:31
kristianpaul"I'm unable to mount the internal flash storage of the Nanonote via ssh" you mean a data-like partition?08:31
kristianpaulIf you can ssh to the nanonote you're actually using the  internal flash storage rootfs08:32
kristianpaulso i guess you already created other partition isnt?08:33
kristianpaulAbout the external flash memory, can you cofirm you are running last firnware version and also if will be veru helpfull you pastebin the log that appear on screen as soon as you plug the card08:37
qi-bot[commit] David Kühling: svgalib: fix (?) gl_fillbox & friends when used in 32-bit video modes http://qi-hw.com/p/openwrt-packages/8b59d5008:50
LunaVoraxkristianpaul, I'm going to try that08:59
LunaVoraxBut the biggest problem stay the microsd08:59
qi-bot[commit] David Kühling: svgalib: do _not_ attempt to use linear video modes for now: buggy!? http://qi-hw.com/p/openwrt-packages/53a284809:00
LunaVoraxSad that I can't use it :/09:00
qi-bot[commit] David Kühling: zgv: more fixes for proper truecolor mode operation: img browser works now http://qi-hw.com/p/openwrt-packages/3266da309:00
kristianpaulLunaVorax: yes we both know that, but i want more data about what the nanonote tell about the removable memory09:10
rjeffrieswhat time zone is used for the time stamps in the #qi-hardware log?09:16
LunaVoraxOh, wait a minute09:16
LunaVoraxWeird thing is happenning09:16
LunaVoraxThe card must be formatter in fat16, right ?09:18
kristianpaulhmm, well dont know...09:24
rjeffriesthis Arduino clone may be reasonable choice if I want to interface Ben Nanonote to external pod for sensors.09:28
kristianpaulwhat you need from the arduino?09:33
rjeffriesmaybe use 8:10 to connect to Ben. (I think Tux did something with serial connection)09:33
rjeffrieskristianpaul: I do not *need* anything. Just want to play with digital and analog i/o for that matter09:34
kristianpauli see09:35
rjeffriesI don;y *need* Ben to be terminal and master controller. culd simply use Arduino09:35
rjeffriesbut for some time the idea of a full Linus controlling one or more Arduinos has seemed mildly interesting09:36
rjeffriesOne reason I was interested in SIE (nee SAKC) was I hoped ther could be a version which had AVR chip on board rather than FPGA09:37
LunaVoraxOk fixed09:37
LunaVoraxFormatted sdcard as ext209:37
LunaVoraxFixed the permissions stuffs09:38
rjeffriesyou da ,man LunaVrax09:38
LunaVoraxAnd it works, just have to plug the sd card after the nanonote is powered up09:38
LunaVorax"you da" ?09:38
LunaVoraxBen Nanonote is indeed binary compatible with dingux but there's a lot of .so files missing :'(09:39
kristianpaulLunaVorax: :-)09:40
LunaVoraxlibmad.so is for mp3 playback ?09:40
kristianpaulLunaVorax: may be zear (when arrives) already solve problem with .so09:40
kristianpaulI think so LunaVorax09:40
LunaVorax'k that explain09:40
LunaVoraxDo I need to put the .so required files in the same folder of the application I want to run or in a specific place ?09:41
rjeffries06:38 <LunaVorax> Ben Nanonote is indeed binary compatible with dingux.// I've wondered about that. Which model A320? Dignuz is cheap too, maybe $65USD or so?09:58
LunaVoraxI suppose A320 and A330 are the same10:00
LunaVoraxBut let's assume it's a binary for A32010:00
LunaVoraxWhich I also have10:00
LunaVoraxI tried to run scummvm but it won't launch until I find a libmad.so.0 ... which I don't10:01
LunaVoraxOh goodie10:05
LunaVoraxYeti3D pro does work ootb10:05
LunaVoraxIt's fantastic10:05
rjeffriesLunaVorax I'd like to ask a couple of questions off irc my email is rjeffries@gmail.com pls email me10:12
LunaVoraxWow, I'm not the right person for that, i'm not an expert10:15
LunaVoraxI'm a regular user of the Nanonote like you10:15
qi-bot[commit] David Kühling: zgv: pre-configure a more modern color-scheme http://qi-hw.com/p/openwrt-packages/f32452713:16
LunaVoraxHey everyone !16:14
LunaVoraxI have a question about the Ben Nanonote OS/FW16:15
LunaVoraxWill the switch from OpenWRT to Jlime be forced or are you still going to maintain the OpenWRT as well as Jlime ?16:15
LunaVoraxThe problem is some people just told me that Dingux binaries doesn't work anymore under Jlime, which doesn't make me want to switch from OpenWRT to Jlime :/16:16
wpwrakLunaVorax: nobody is forcing you :) and as far as i can tell, nobody is abandoning openwrt either.16:17
LunaVoraxHaha ok16:18
LunaVoraxThanks wpwrak16:18
